59303 - movement from Blackpool

After some years in storage, an attempt has at last been made to move the centre cars in storage at Blackpool. They were long 'out-of-ticket' which complicated movement. After looking at several options on how to achieve this, including craning the vehicles from where they stood, it was decided to have the axles ultrasonically tested to allow them to move to the nearby 'depot' for loading.
The move was planned for Thursday 2nd September, and a Fragonset Class 31 was hired to move them for loading. Unfortunately it was found that there is a tight corner on the way into the depot, with bollards on the pavement which prevented the lorry from turning. The move was aborted.
The council have agreed to remove the bollards, and once done they can then move to their new homes in preservation, 59539 at the Mid-Norfolk and 59303 regrouped once again into set 692 as it was in 1992.
